What will we be doing in ELA 7?
This year in English be prepared for lots of reading and writing. We will be reading a novel together and writing pieces both fiction and nonfiction. Of course, we will be covering grammar and vocabulary, too!
*The agendas are estimated plans for what we will be doing in class. Due dates, assignment specifications, number and type of assignments, and collection dates may be modified at any time at the discretions of the teacher. Changes will be announced by the teacher and/or written on the board in the classroom. It is the student's responsibility to be alert to these notices.
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS: Students will be informed of an upcoming assessment at least one week in advance. They will also be given materials to help review for the assessment. In the event that a student did not perform as well as s/he would have liked, a retake is offered. However, in order to retake an assessment, the student must have completed all formative assignments for the unit before the original summative assessment is given. It is important to note that an assessment is not limited to a 'test' but may include a writing piece, a project, a presentation, or another culminating item.
Assignments are weighted 80% summative and 20% formative.
