HAPPY SCHOOL YEAR!
Mrs. Schmidt - I have had the pleasure of teaching seventh and eighth graders in Pinckney for twenty-four years now. My husband, son, dog, two cats, and I live just south of Flint, and I have driven a LOT of miles! I have a degree from University of Michigan-Flint and one from Marygrove College in Detroit. I continue to attend workshops and conferences in attempt to be the best educator I can be for my students!
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS: Students will be informed of an upcoming assessment at least one week in advance. They will also be given materials to help review for the assessment. In the event that a student did not perform as well as s/he would have liked, and the situation, re-takes/test corrections may be offered. However, the student must have completed all formative assignments for the unit before the original summative assessment is given. It is important to note that an assessment is not limited to a 'test' but may include a writing piece, a project, a presentation, or another culminating item.
Assignments are weighted 80% summative and 20% formative.
GROWTH MINDSET - What does this mean? What is a growth mindset? No one is born knowing how to do everything, and the only way to learn a skill is by practicing. If you believe you can learn something and are willing to put in the effort, you will be successful - GUARANTEED!
